How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Ekam Eco was conceptualized in 2013 with the support of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi with an idea to look at the Pee and Poo from a resource perspective. The idea was to create a sustainable, closed-loop sanitation system by converting the waste into resources. While doing this research, In 2016, Uttam and Sachin, found out that the sewage coming out of our houses is not getting decomposed properly due to the chemical contamination from our household cleaners. They also found out that these cleaners are not only damaging the environment but also the health of our family and pets in the houses. Soon the team started working on Natural and Safe alternatives to the conventional chemical cleaners and that is how ‘ Zerodor Care’ was born.
What makes your product special?
Average conventional household cleaners today have about 62 harmful chemicals like Paraben, Phosphates, or Chlorides. Zerodor CARE cleaners, on the other hand, use bio enzymes and natural ingredients that are derived from plant and fruit extracts. All Zerodor Care cleaners are non-toxic, safe, sustainable, laboratory tested and green certified.
Unique fact: Zerodor Care is India’s first home cleaner brand to receive Plastic Neutral Certification by achieving a net-zero plastic footprint.

Ekam Eco Solutions Pvt. Ltd., founded in 2013, is a research spin-off of IIT Delhi’s works on Sanitation. What has been the best part of your experience?
There are many wonderful experiences but the best part is about the impact that we have created in all these years. We have been working on sustainable sanitation solutions for the last 9 years and are able to save more than 1.5 Billion Liters of fresh water through our installations of Waterless Urinals and other Waste Management solutions. Over 50 Lakh lives have been directly and indirectly impacted along with the impact that these solutions have created in all these years on the environment and health of the planet.
